Match Report - 21 Feb 2009, Borden Village FC 1st XI drew with Lanes End

For their second match in succession Borden had to be content to share the points with their visitors from Bexley. The home side looked lively in the opening quarter taking the game to their opponents and the first opening was created by Borden’s Michael Rose who strode purposely forward and delivered a fine cross which was gathered at the second attempt by the visitors keeper Borden continued with the better of exchanges and found themselves ahead after 20mins by courtesy of the visitors when a shot from Mark Greene cannoned off a defender looped over the stranded keeper, and ended up in the net

The home side continued to push forward in search of another with Chris Marsh and Mark Greene both prominent in mid field trying to set up openings for Scott Forster and Mark Barker Towards the end of the half it was Lanes End turn to enjoy a good spell and seconds before the break they were not to be denied and equalised following some prolonged pressure Throughout the second half both sides had opportunities to add to their tally, Borden’s Scott Forster broke clear but drove his powerful shot directly into the grateful keepers arms, minutes later substitute Jamie Kurszewski cut in from the left but elected to lay the ball off when well placed to shoot, but games turn quickly and the last ten minutes belonged to the visitors who at the death almost took all three points, and would have but for some last ditch tackles by Chris Feliniak and Lee Sayer who held firm, to secure a well earned point

Meanwhile Borden Reserves maintained their position of second in the table by winning 3-1 at Bromley Green the goals coming from Scott Teague 2 and Daniel Hudson
