Match Report - 14 Feb 2009, Borden Village FC 1st XI drew with Tenterden Town
The points were shared in this Vandanel Kent County League Division Two East bottom of the table clash which was dominated by the home side. After a slow start Borden began to take the initiative and after twenty minutes Marc Greene gave them the lead when he got the faintest of touches to glance a Lee Sayer free kick past the keeper. Borden went close on a couple of occasions and after half an hour doubled their lead when Scott Forster crossed for James Beech to run onto and score with a low shot from the edge of the box off the post. Within five minutes Borden's defensive frailties were exposed when the visitors scored twice to level the scores. Worse was to follow just before half time when Borden lost possession in midfield and Tenterden broke away to go into half time 3-2 ahead.
Ten minutes into the second half Borden equalised when skipper Mark Barker put Scott Forster in the clear and he made no mistake with a good finish. The home side continued to press for the winner and had several chances to take the three points but had to settle for a draw which at least lifted them off the bottom of the table.
Borden Reserves continued their good run to move into second place in the Reserve Division East winning 5-0 at Larkfield & New Hythe Wanderers Reserves with goals from Dan Hudson, Scott Teague (2), Paul Teague and Noel Manning.
