Match Report - 31 Jan 2009, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to premier

Following this latest defeat by league leaders Premier, Borden desperately need to put some wins together or they will be facing re-election at the end of the season. Straight from the kick off Premier went on the attack and before long demonstrated why they were favourites to win the league After 10 minutes they took the lead with a well taken goal and went further ahead mid way through the half after Borden failed to clear their lines The visitors effectively bossed the game and pinned Borden down for long periods resulting in the home side conceding a third minutes before the break. Borden’s manager Knocker Williams changed the system at half time by reverting to a back four and this changed the whole pattern of the game In terms of attitude and confidence, as it was now a different Borden team. The second half belonged to the home side and Jamie Kurszewski found himself with only the keeper to beat on more than one occasion but Premier’s keeper pulled off two tremendous saves when Borden seemed certain to score

After 20 mins Borden reduced the arrears when they won a corner on the right from the resulting kick Michael Rose delivered a perfect ball and Mark Green climbed the highest to powerfully head home Borden spurred on by the goal camped in Premier’s half but resolute defending by the visitors kept out efforts by Mark Barker and Scott Forster With seconds remaining Premier had a rare break and with Borden pushing on they scored a fourth and it was game over
