Match Report - 22 Nov 2008, Borden Village FC 1st XI drew with Bredhurst Juniors

Borden started brightly and enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges and Bredhurst found themselves on the defensive The opener came at the end of a period of intense pressure when captain Mark Barker sent away Scott Forster who delivered a deep cross to the far post and defender Phil Jackson who had made up tremendous ground arrived to firmly to head home his first goal for the club For the remainder of the half Borden looked the most likely to score and when Alan Whitehead’s shot crashed against the bar, Chris Marsh looked certain to score but the ball would not drop quickly enough and his effort looped agonisley over the bar Bredhurst weathered the storm and began to put their own moves together but the Borden defence of Chris Feliniak James Beech and Lee Sayer held firm Following the break the home side pushed on in search of an equaliser and were rewarded mid way through the half when Borden failed to clear one of the many free kicks they conceded and were punished when Bredhurst levelled from close range Borden almost snatched it in the closing minutes when substitute Jamie Kurszewski wriggled past two defenders in the box but the home keeper produced a low save to deny him the winner
