Match Report

Match Report - 08 Nov 2008, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to Saga Sports

Borden travelled to Canterbury on Saturday hoping to build on their previous win but came up against a very determined Saga Sports side Within 15 minutes in atrocious conditions they conceded their first goal, and ten minutes before the break found themselves 3 down and chasing the game Borden however, picked up their game and following some good midfield play they managed to reduce the arrears with a well deserved goal scored from Scott Forster This gave Borden the boost they had needed, and they found themselves right back in it when they promptly scored this time the goal coming from Nicky Fuller. After a half time pep talk from manager Knocker Williams, Borden played with greater determination and had the better of the exchanges but a silly mistake at the back allowed the home side to extend their lead Borden made some changes and leading scorer Scott Forster netted his second Five minutes from time later Borden’s Martin Kemsely levelled the scores and Borden looked to be sharing the points However disaster struck as with almost the last kick of the game Saga broke through to get the winner and take the hard earned spoils on a day that was more suitable for water sports than football. .
