Match Report - 20 Sep 2008, Borden Village FC Reserves drew with APM Mears

After a great win last week Borden Reserves travelled to APM Mears Reserves in the Vandanel Kent County League Reserve Division East. After taking the lead within the first two minutes with a well taken goal from Dan Hudson they were off to a flyer but five minutes later they found themselves giving away a penalty for a hand ball inside the box which was converted to draw the home side level. Borden applied all the pressure during the first half and soon found themselves ahead once again with another fine finish from Hudson after good work by Danny Maryott. At the start of the second half Borden failed to come out of the traps and was caught flat footed in conceding the equalizer. Hudson and Maryott were linking well and causing problems for the home defence and when Hudson put Maryott through with a great ball, his effort went straight at the keeper from six yards out. The combination worked again shortly afterwards and Hudson finished well to complete his hat trick and give Borden a deserved lead. Borden continued to apply all the pressure but yet again conceded an equalizer after some sloppy defending. They might have won the game shortly before the end when Tony Goold found the ball at his feet inside the box only to see his shot go narrowly wide with the keeper beaten
