Match Report - 13 Sep 2008, Borden Village FC Reserves beat Lydd Town
Borden bounced back from last weeks defeat with two players making their debut including new signing James Bonney from the u18s who did not look out of place and was a pick for man of the match. The changes proved vital as Borden started well and found themselves creating many of chances within the first ten minutes. Borden had to play the patient game and wait for the break through and after playing some excellent football the home side were just doing that little bit too much in front of goal instead of having a go. The first goal came when Danny Maryott put Dan Hudson through, he controlled the ball, rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home. Aaron Ridley made it two with a great finish just before half time. Despite taking a knock, Ridley still played the ninety minutes and midway through the second half after some great play on the edge of the box he rifled the ball home for his second. Five minutes later James Beech picked the ball up on the edge of his own box, brought the ball forward and drilled the ball home off the post from thirty yards. The home side continued to press and with ten minutes left, Tony Gould, who had controlled the game from midfield, found himself unmarked at the back post to get his third goal in two games and wrap up a five goal to nil victory.
