Match Report - 20 Sep 2008, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to Larkfield NHW

Borden are still searching for their first win after being beaten at home on Saturday The home side started well and took the game to the visitors and after ten minutes Mark Barker thought that he had put his team in the lead when he headed home an Alan Whitehead free kick but his celebrations were cut short as he was adjudged to have been offside For long periods of the first half there was little to choose between the sides, but as the game went on it was the visitors who were beginning to create the better openings and Borden’s Mark Green and Alan Whitehead had their work cut out as Larkfield took the initiative in the midfield and set up chances for their forwards Five minutes before half time Whitehead was unlucky when his fine shot hit the underside of the bar, cannoned off the post and was gathered up by a grateful keeper but Borden were struck a blow, as with seconds of the half remaining, Larkfield won a corner and from the resultant kick took the lead

The second half was much the same with both sides creating the odd chance and five minutes before the end with Borden pushing on in search of an equaliser Larkfield sealed the points with a second goal
