Match Report - 13 Sep 2008, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to Premier

Straight from the kick off Borden found them selves under serious pressure as new to the league Premier FC set off at express pace scoring three goals in the first ten minutes of the game leaving the visitors an uphill battle Following this initial onslaught Borden began to regroup realising that they would have to work tirelessly against a far superior side who were clearly used to dominating games The next half hour saw Borden’s captain Mark Barker lead by example encouraging those around him to dig in and try and compete in all areas with Alan Whitehead, and Nicky Fuller, working hard to try and create Borden’s Phil Jackson began to penetrate down the right and deliver a series of crosses that were either cleared or dealt with by the home keeper, but seconds before the half time whistle Premier broke swiftly bagged a fourth, and the game was all but over

The second half followed the same pattern, as within ten minutes of the restart Borden’s keeper Charlie Donoghue was adjudged to have brought down a home player and their lead was increased from the resultant penalty However Borden’s refusal to throw in the towel paid off ten minutes later when Scott Forster controlled the ball just outside the area, turned sharply, and buried the ball in the bottom left hand corner giving Borden some consolation and making it the first goal that Premier has conceded in the league In the last five minutes Premier completed the rout with two further goals, which confirmed their position as league leaders
