Match Report - 13 May 2017, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Guru Nanak
Borden Village ended their season with a victory at Gravesend against relegation candidates Guru Nanack scoring 7 goals without reply. After 8 mins Tommy Price opened the scoring and ten mins later Ashleigh Baverstock made it 2 and Borden added a third when they were awarded a penalty and Ben Taylor scored from the spot. Following the break Joe Sands got on the score sheet and mid way through the half Baverstock scored his second and Borden’s 5th. Taylor scored Borden’s 6th and with 5 mins remaining after Reiss Crimmen was pushed in the box Borden were awarded a second penalty and this time keeper Carl ONeill stepped up to drive home and score his first ever goal for the Villagers. Finally some praise must go to both the Guru Nanack players and their management team who despite losing every single league game this season have managed to complete their league programme against all odds in a sporting and dignified manner.
