Match Report - 08 Apr 2017, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to Peckham Town
Any hopes the villagers had for League Honours were swept away on Saturday when high flying Peckham Town returned to London with the three points.
The opening stages saw both teams create some half chances and there was little to chose between the sides but it was the visitors who broke the deadlock on the half hour when the leagues top scorer Abraham Opoku curled a free kick into the top corner giving Borden’s keeper Carl ONeill no chance. Borden came out after the break in search of an equaliser and pinned the visitors down for long periods Borden’s George Latham thought he had levelled but his header came off the underside of the bar on to the line and was scrambled clear. With ten minutes remaining and Borden pushing men forward Peckham broke away and it was the dangerous Opoku who cut through the home defence to slot the ball home taking his seasons tally to an impressive 41 goals.
