Match Report - 04 Mar 2017, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Bexley
After 6 straight league wins Borden climb to second in the table and are back in contention for League Honours. However the villagers did not have it all their own way and it took a last minute goal from Scott Forster to secure the three points. In the first period a strong Bexley side had the best of exchanges and on the half hour took the lead with a deflected shot that gave Borden’s keeper Carl ONeill no chance the nearest Borden got to scoring was when Ross Frost saw his header cannon off the bar and back into play. Although Bexley edged the first half the villagers came out after the break determined to get a goal back but resolute defending by a well organised defence meant that scoring opportunities were few and far between. The breakthrough came 8 mins before time when Ben Taylor headed a Joe Sands corner back across the goal and substitute Scott Forster was at hand to steer the ball into the net for a well deserved equaliser. The villagers sensed they could snatch a win and launched a series of attacks and only desperate defending kept them out but with time added all but gone and the referee looking to blow the whistle the ball fell to Forster in the 6 yard box who fired into the bottom corner to win the game.
