Match Report - 28 Jan 2017, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Metrogas
The villagers chalked up their third successive win at Metrogas on Saturday and the 3 points took them up into third place in the table. However the game had barely started when they fell behind with an own goal, but were level within 5mins when Ashleigh Baverstock drew the keeper and slotted home. After 20 mins the home side took the lead again with a fine volley from the edge of the box which gave Borden’s keeper Carl O’Neill no chance. With 35 mins gone it was Baverstock who equalised, and just before the break it was the same player who got to the by-line and delivered into the 6 yard box where Tommy Price was at hand to finish. Minutes after the restart George Latham blocked a clearance from the keeper retrieved the ball and found the bottom corner to put the villagers in the driving seat, and with 10 mins remaining Price put the issue beyond doubt when he beat the advancing keeper to slide the ball home, sealing a fine win for Borden. This week Borden are at home to Lydd Town Res. 2.45 ko.
