Match Report - 17 Dec 2016, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Staplehurst & Monarchs
The villagers finished the year by scoring 3 goals without reply at Staplehurst on Saturday. Borden started the game well by playing some attractive football putting the home side on the back foot. They went ahead after 10 mins when Reiss Crimmen started and finished the move the by sending Joe Sands away down the right and arriving late at the far post to head home Sands cross ten minutes later the villagers increased their lead when the home side failed to clear a long throw from Crimmen and the ball fell to Sam Brown at the edge of the box who hit a wonderful strike into the roof of the net. After the break Borden missed a number of opportunities and were rarely troubled by the home side but on the odd occasion when they did threaten Borden’s keeper Carl ONeill was on fine form pulling off one tremendous save from a goal bound effort. With 15 mins remaining Borden put the issue beyond doubt when man of the match Crimmen delivered to the far post and Dan Hudson was at hand to sweep the ball home giving the villagers a comfortable win with the 3 points keeping them in touch with the leaders.
