Match Report - 26 Nov 2016, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Lydd Town Reserves

Borden returned to winning ways with a comprehensive win away at Lydd Town on Saturday. The villagers got off to a good start when Ashleigh Baverstock put them ahead after 10mins, and mid way through the half Ross Frost increased their lead firing home from 6 yards when the home side failed to clear a Joe Sands corner. On the half hour Borden were reduced to ten men when Sam Brown received a red card for a second yellow but the villagers determined not to let a two goal lead slip this time scored a third just before the break when George Latham found the net to put them in the driving seat. Despite having ten men Borden continued to attack and on the hour Latham headed home his second and ten minutes  later when the same player was up ended in the box  he completed his hat trick with the resultant kick.  Lydd reduced the arrears with a penalty which Borden’s keeper Charlie Donoghue managed to parry but the penalty taker  fastened on to the rebound and scored with his second attempt. With 5 mins remaining Reiss Crimmen put substitute Billy Graham through and but was brought down and the referee pointed to the spot. Graham picked himself up and planted the kick firmly into the back of the net to give the villagers a well deserved win. Next Saturday Borden are at home to New Romney in the quarter final of the KICS ko 1.30
