Match Report

Match Report - 15 Oct 2016, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to Kennington

Borden suffered a second defeat of the season to a strong Kennington side. The early stages were fairly even with long throws from Reiss Crimmen causing Kennington problems and several goal line clearances. Borden took the lead when a Sam Brown free kick was fumbled by the keeper and Tommy Price headed in. The lead was short livid when Crimmen turned a cross into his own net to hand Kennington an equaliser. Just before half time the visitors took the lead after an unfortunate rebound from a Borden player left the forward in on goal for a clinical finish. The second half remained fairly even with Borden pressing to get on terms but after 20 minutes Kennington were awarded a penalty which was well saved by Carl ONeill. Instead of this encouraging Borden, they suddenly found themselves 4-1 down within a few minutes after defensive lapses. Next week Borden are in Kent Intermediate Shield action at Bexley.
