The villagers got back to winning ways on Saturday with a comprehensive victory over Metrogas. The home side went straight on the attack moving the ball around well and forcing a number of corners but Metrogas held out until the 23rd minute when they conceded a free kick. Sam Brown delivered deep into the box and Ben Taylor’s header looped over the keeper and inside the far post. Minutes later George Latham headed home a Joe Sands cross put them 2 up and in the driving seat and just before the break Ashleigh Baverstock headed home a Latham cross to put the villagers in the driving seat. Following the break Baverstock returned the compliment when his pinpoint cross was headed home by the unmarked Latham, and ten minutes later they scored a fifth when the in form Baverstock rounded the keeper to slot home. The next ten minutes saw Borden lapse concentration by gifting the visitors 2 goals but with ten minutes left Baverstock crossed again and Tommy Price was at hand to score from close in. With 5 minutes remaining Baverstock capped a fine display when he fastened on to Baxindale’s through ball to rifle in from 18 yards and complete his hat trick.
