Match Report - 03 Sep 2016, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Guru Nanak

Borden Village are the early season pacesetters and are currently sitting on top of the premier Division following their fifth consecutive league win. Saturdays opponents Guru Nanack rarely troubled the home team who although in the early stages had the lions share of possession failed to convert a number of openings. After 25 mins the breakthrough came when Joe Sands got in behind the defence and his cross was met by the unmarked Dan Hudson who slotted home. The villagers kept pressing and scored again just before half time when a long ball from keeper Charlie Donoghue evaded the visitors defence took a high bounce and George Latham ran in and headed home past the advancing keeper. Following the break Borden controlled the game and with fifteen minutes remaining won a free kick just outside the box. Sam Brown delivered a superb ball to the far post and Ben Taylor climbed the highest to head powerfully home to put the issue beyond doubt. On Saturday Borden are at home to Stansfeld OB 2.45 KO
