Match Report - 26 Sep 2015, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to Kennington

The villagers plagued by injuries and work commitments are also struggling to find last seasons form, were beaten by a lively Kennington side on Saturday. However the final score line did not reflect a true picture of the game. The first half belonged to Borden as in the opening stages the villagers had the better of exchanges and were unlucky not to take the lead when Rob Reardon’s header from a Dan Hudson free kick rebounded off the upright and was scrambled away to safety. 10 mins later Sam Brown was inches away with a well taken free kick from just outside the box and try as they may the villagers failed to convert any further openings and went in level at the break. The second half followed the same pattern but on the hour the visitors converted a hotly disputed penalty to take the lead. As a result of the penalty Rob Reardon was dismissed and Borden were down to ten men Before they could reorganise Kennington added a second and the villagers were on the back foot. They then had to push men forward which leaving gaps at the back which Kennington exploited and from breakaways added two more . In added time, they scored a fifth giving them a comprehensive win and a rather flattering score line.
