Match Report

Match Report - 05 Sep 2015, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to Metrogas

Borden Village tasted defeat for the first time this season at the hands of league champions Metrogas. The villagers started brightly enough and scored after 7mins when Sam Brown threaded a perfectly weighted pass through to Jay Law whose fierce shot beat the advancing keeper. From then on it was end to end stuff as both sides proved an equal match for each other. Ten minutes before the break Borden’s Matt Cunningham curled a superb free kick over the wall only to see the ball cannon against the underside of the bar with the keeper well beaten. Within minutes Metrogas scrambled an equaliser when Borden failed to clear their lines. After the break both teams went out in search of the winner with Borden creating a number of chances they were denied by the woodwork twice and George Latham looked certain to score but his header flew inches wide. Mid way through the half the home side edged in front with Borden being caught on the break the villagers pushed on to try and level but with 3mins remaining another breakaway saw the home side secure the 3 points.
