Match Report - 18 Apr 2015, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Greenways
Borden entertained mid table Greenways on Saturday and although the home side started well they found themselves a goal down after fifteen minutes when the visitors broke down the right and the subsequent cross was converted against the run of play. For the remainder of the half the villagers had the lions share of possession but failed to penetrate a well organised defence. Following the break Borden pushed on in search of an equaliser but ten minutes the visitors increased their lead when they broke swiftly and scored at the near post. Mid way through the half a Sam Brown strike from the edge of the box flew past the keeper and the home side were back in it. With fifteen minutes remaining a goalmouth melee saw Borden’s Jay Law scramble an equaliser and the visitors were now on the back foot With the minutes ticking away 17 year old substitute Jake Lake making his debut for the1st team found some space in the area but as he positioned himself to shoot was brought down and the referee pointed to the spot. Up stepped Sam Brown to send the keeper the wrong way and give his side 3 valuable points to keep them in with a chance of a top three finish.
