Match Report

Match Report - 11 Apr 2015, Borden Village FC 1st XI drew with Guru Nanak

Borden were again in action on Saturday entertaining 4th in the table Guru Nanack. Once again there was little to chose between both sides but with the villagers playing their third game in a week injuries began to take their toll with Sam Brown having to come off after fifteen minutes and Liam Baxindale not long afterwards. For most of the first half there was little to chose between the sides but the large crowd were entertained by some good football being played despite most scoring opportunities being denied by strong defensive play from both sides. The second half proved to be the same but with ten minutes remaining the visitors went in front the ball being deflected past Borden’s keeper Charlie Donoghue. Borden were determined not to let the game slip and the reminder of the game saw Borden attack strongly in search of an equaliser and with three minutes remaining Latham broke through and from the edge of the unleashed a shot that cannoned off the foot of the post and into the net for a well deserved equaliser.
