Match Report - 14 Mar 2015, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Hildenborough
Borden made a slow start to this NRG Gym Kent County League Premier Division game and found themselves a goal down after only 2 minutes when the visitors scored with a free kick from outside the area, which took a deflection to beat keeper Charlie Donoghue. The home team gradually began to take control of the game in difficult windy conditions and had a few half chances but the visitors appeared content to sit back and protect their lead with a solid defence. Borden started the second half in the same way dominating the play but finding it difficult to make a breakthrough until after the hour they finally equalised when George Latham threaded a through ball for Ashley Baverstock to round the keeper and slot home. 7 minutes later Ashley Baverstock returned the favour by crossing for George Latham to score the winner from close range. After this the away side rarely threatened, the Borden defence holding firm through the efforts of Ben Taylor and Lewis Rivett to gain a valuable 3 points at the top of the division. Next Saturday Borden play New Romney in the semi final of the Weald of Kent Cup at home, kick off 2.00.
