Match Report - 28 Feb 2015, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Snodland Town
After a poor start to the season Borden’s latest win over Snodland Town sees them now occupying fifth position in the Premier Divison with maximum points gained from their last nine league games. In the early stages it was Borden who had the better of exchanges with Paul Teague and George Latham causing problems , and after 15 mins the villagers deservedly took the lead when Ross Frost firmly headed home a Sam Brown corner. On the half hour Paul Teague who was having a fine game found some space and although surrounded by defenders managed to turn quickly and fire into the bottom corner. Five minutes later it should have been 3 when Frost rounded the keeper only to see his shot hit the side netting. Following the break Borden threatened to add to their tally and mid way through the half Steve Goldsmith broke into the box and unselfishly pulled the ball back for George Latham to drive the ball home. The visitors gave a spirited display and when Borden lost possession on the half way line they broke quickly and scored what turned out to be a consolation, as minutes later Latham volleyed home his 20th goal of the season to give his side another convincing win. Even though it is their first season in the Premier Division it is now looking like the villagers may have some say in the honours this season as all 4 clubs above them have to come to Borden starting with third placed APM Contrast who will be entertained on Saturday 2.45 ko at Borden Playstool.
