Match Report - 07 Feb 2015, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Staplehurst & Monarchs
The villagers returned triumphant on Saturday with 3 points in the bag following a comprehensive victory over Staplehurst. The opening period saw Borden take the game to their opponents with George Latham and Scott Forster looking threatening. After twenty mins the villagers won a corner and when the home side failed to clear Ben Taylor was first to react and hook the ball over the keeper and into the net. Borden began to dominate and with Sam Brown and Ross Frost pulling the strings in mid field it was not long before they added a second and from another corner it was Lewis Rivet who finished clinically to put the visitors firmly in the driving seat. Following the break there was no let up as Borden went in search of more goals and Latham scored with a powerful header from Scott Forsters cross. With fifteen minutes remaining Latham headed home again from a Sam Brown free kick and although the home side never gave up the Borden defence superbly marshalled by Man of the Match Ben Taylor held firm for a clean sheet. This result takes Borden up to fifth in the Premier League their highest position so far to date.
