Match Report - 01 Nov 2014, Borden Village FC 1st XI drew with Tudor Sports
The villagers still searching for the first league home win took part in a close fought game on Saturday. In the opening stages play was pretty even with both sides unable to create any clear cut chances Mid way through the first period Borden’s Jack Goodger sent Jay Law away and as he cut into the box was upended and the referee pointed to the spot. Up stepped Sam Brown to send the keeper the wrong way and put his side in front. The villagers tried in vain to increase their lead but stalwart defending by the South Londoners kept the home side at bay. Following the break it was the visitors who set out in search of an equaliser and were rewarded after 50 mins when Borden failed to clear their lines and the visitors struck. With no quarter given both teams continued to attack and with 7 mins remaining Ross Frost looked to have won it for Borden when he powered through to chip the advancing keeper and put Borden in front again With seconds remaining and Borden looking to celebrate that elusive win disaster struck as the visitors broke away and with the referee preparing to blow for time scored at the far post to level again. The game was restarted and he immediately blew for time leaving a disappointed Borden side that knew they had let 2 precious points slip away.
