Match Report - 25 Oct 2014, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to APM Contrast
On Saturday last years quarter-finalists Borden were eliminated this year by APM Contrast who go through to the next round. It was a game of missed chances for the villagers in what could only be described as a scrappy game which lacked any real quality. In the first period the villagers failed to cash in on their superiority, and mid way through the half found themselves a goal down when the home side broke swiftly and scored following a cross to the far post. Borden set about reducing the arrears and ten mins later won a corner on the left. The in swinging corner caused problems in the home defence and George Latham was at hand to scramble the ball over the line. The second half was much the same with the villagers having the better of exchanges but failing to capitalise on a number of openings. With 20 mins remaining APM latched on to lose ball and fired in a 25 yarder which found the top corner. The visitors tried desperately to find an equaliser but despite hitting the woodwork no less than five times failed to find the net and it was the home side that won through to the next round.
