Match Report - 27 Sep 2014, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Bredhurst Juniors

With Ben Taylor returning from suspension, and playing alongside new signing Lewis Rivett, Burdens defence looked solid from the start. In the opening stages it was the villagers who created the better chances but were unable unlock the home side’s defence. Throughout the first half play was pretty even but 5 mins before the break Borden won a corner. From the resultant kick Bredhurst failed to clear and Paul Teague delivered the ball into the box where George Latham was at hand to send a looping header over the home keeper and put his side in front. The second period was much the same with the visitors creating chances but unable to add to their tally. With ten minutes remaining Bredhurst pushed forward in search of a goal and this time the villagers failed to get the ball away and Bredhurst scored a scrappy equaliser from close range. Borden came back strongly and for the last few minutes were held at bay by some desperate defending however with the referee looking at his watch and with extra time looming, Dan Hudson crossed into the box and Liam Newton lost his marker to head home the winner and put Borden into the next round where they will meet APM
