Match Report - 26 Apr 2014, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Kennington
Borden Village remain on course in their quest for league and cup double with their 4th consecutive league win against high riding Kennington. Straight from the kick off the home side attacked strongly and were a goal up in the 3rd minute when George Latham found some space to hammer home. 5 mins Later Borden won a corner which the visitors failed to clear and Ben Taylor on his return from suspension drove home from the edge of the six yard box. It looked that the home side were likely to run up a cricket score but Kennington regrouped and defended resolutely as Borden piled on the pressure. The second half was much the same with Borden camped in their opponents half Latham had a goal ruled out for offside and the visitors keeper kept the score line down by making a series of good saves from Liam Baxindale Dan Hudson and Ross Frost. Kennington rarely threatened and despite dominating the game Borden were kept at bay and could not add to their tally but 3 valuable points takes them up to second place with 5 league games remaining. On Thursday May 1st Borden play Coney Hall in the Inter-regional Challenge cup final KO 7.30pm.
