Match Report - 21 Apr 2014, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Park Regis
Borden playing their 4th game in ten days returned to league duty on Monday against local rivals Park Regis. Due to injuries and work commitments the visitors started the game with ten men which gave the home side the opportunity to use the extra man to attack strongly and pin Regis down for long periods. After 15mins Borden took the lead when Liam Baxindale netted after Regis failed to clear their lines and Borden began to dictate the play. On the half hour Paul Teague scored the second and five minutes before the break striker George Latham fired home to take his tally this season to 18 and give his side a 3 goal advantage. Following the break Regis were able to field the full eleven but by then this much awaited local derby had lost its impetus .For most of the second period Borden continued to dominate but with 15mins remaining it was the visitors who capitalised on a defensive error and scored a consolation. Afterwards joint managers Aaron Hodges and Nick Brown agreed that the villagers were not at their best having played a some hard fought games in the past week but nevertheless the 3points today moves them up to 4th position in their quest for league honours. Next Saturday Borden are at home to Kennington 2.45 ko.
