Match Report

Match Report - 05 Apr 2014, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Kennington

Borden returned to league action with an away game at Kennington which proved to be a difficult fixture. Both teams started very low key and a strong breeze coupled with a hard pitch made playing good football quite difficult. In a scrappy first half there was little to chose between both teams chances were few and far between and both teams went in at the break all square. The second half was much the same but as the game progressed Borden created the better chanced and looked the more likely to score with ten minutes remaining Tommy Price latched on to a loose ball to drive home and give his side the lead. Minutes later Kennington won a corner and lack of concentration in the Borden defence allowed the home side to head home the equaliser. In the minutes remaining the villagers pressed forward and in the 89th minute were rewarded when man of the match Price found the net again to bag his side 3 valuable points in their challenge for promotion.
