Match Report - 29 Mar 2014, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Stansfeld O&B Club
Borden beat their fourth Premier Division side this season as they progressed to the final of the Haart of Kent County League Inter Regional Cup with two goals from Ashley Baverstock and an own goal. Borden dominated play in the first half but only had a couple of half chances to show for their efforts until just before half time Tom Green sent a terrific through ball to Baverstock who turned inside and beat his man before driving into the corner from ten yards to give them the lead. Five minutes into the second half Stansfeld equalised from close range and began to put pressure on the Borden defence. After 70 minutes Stansfeld went in front, again from close range. Borden took the game to Stansfeld and were rewarded when from Baverstock’s corner deep to the back post was turned into by a defender for an equalising own goal. Just when it was looking like extra time, Baverstock beat a couple of defenders and shot home from the edge of the penalty box to give Borden a deserved place in the final. In the final they will play Coney Hall on the 1st May at Chatham Town’s ground.
