Match Report - 01 Mar 2014, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Snodland
George Latham blasted a hat trick against Premier Division Snodland Town to take Borden Village into the quarterfinals of the IRCC . The villagers found themselves a goal up after only 3 mins when Daniel Swann opened up the home defence with a superb ball into the path of Latham who fired past the advancing keeper to claim his first. The early goal clearly unsettled the home side and Borden seized the opportunity to pile on the pressure. Borden continued to take the game to Snodland who seemed intent on relying on the long ball much to the delight of Borden’s central defenders Ross Frost and Mark Green who snuffed out any goal threats. After 37 mins Borden won a corner and from Sam Brown’s delivery the unmarked Frost firmly headed home. Following the break Borden began to look stronger and after 70 mins Ashley Baverstock put Latham through with a slide rule pass and the striker once again planted the ball past the keeper to put the visitors firmly in the driving seat. With ten mins remaining debutante Baverstock once again fed Latham with a perfectly weighted ball who rounded the keeper and hammered home to claim his hat trick and his side’s second Pemier Team Scalp this season.
