Match Report - 09 Nov 2013, Borden Village FC Reserves beat Cliffe Woods

Well what can I say after a performance like that. We went into this
game on the back of some great cup upsets against teams in higher
leagues. We was playing the league leaders in the Rochester League
Cliffe Woods. They we're unbeaten which made it a tough task for us.
We started quite cautiously but looking very resolute at the back with the
new look young back line holding firm from the early pressure. We
wasn't creating too many chances but was working tirelessly to keep
Cliffe Woods at bay. After about 30 minutes Sills swung in a corner for
the meteoric Sandy to rise above and head home to put the Village 1-0
up. The half closed out with the Village defending stubbornly and closing
the opponents down well.
The second half started pretty much the same with Cliffe Woods having
the most of the possession but when they did breach the back four the
excellent Neat kept them at bay with a couple of worldie saves. Sandy
deflected a cross onto his post and the excellent Graham managed to
knee a dangerous cross over the bar whilst seemingly on his own goal
line. Cliffe Woods pressed on and Baker had a great counter attacking
chance to finish the tie but dragged his effort wide to leave a nervy
finish. Borden managed to hold out and advance into the next round of
the cup with a fantastic team performance. The best of the season by
