Match Report - 30 Nov 2013, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Malgo
Borden completed their first double of the season away at Malgo on Saturday. The home side keen to avenge their defeat at Borden started well and play was pretty even in the opening stages. After 20 mins Malgo won a corner and from the resultant kick they headed home to take the lead. Borden pressed hard in search of an equaliser but despite creating a number of half chances failed to penetrate the home defence.10 mins before the break Borden levelled when a cross from Jamie Warren was diverted past his keeper by a defender resulting in an own goal A stern team talk at half time by the management team of Nick Brown and Aaron Hodges made sure that it was a different Borden that came out for the second half. Straight from the kick off the opposition were pinned in their own half for long periods and on the hour Borden won a free kick on the edge of the box. Up stepped Paul Teague to drive home an unstoppable shot to put Borden in the driving seat. Some desperate defending kept the visitors at bay but with ten minutes remaining Dan Swann put the issue beyond doubt with a powerful drive into the bottom corner.
