Match Report - 05 Oct 2013, Borden Village FC Reserves lost to Bromley Green Reserves

Borden came into this cup fixture trying to again gain advantage over
their opponents after recording a victory in the previous league meeting.
The game started poorly with both teams giving away possession very
cheaply. There was very few chances created but the home side looked
dangerous only to find Neat in the Borden goal in good shot stopping
form. The first half closed as a drab 0-0 with little football occurring.
Borden started the second half a bit brighter by trying to keep the ball
and trying to knock it around and get the flanks involved and created a
couple of openings. The first major point of the match occurred in the
61st minute when Sills was bundled over in the box and the referee
awarding a penalty to the visitors. The usually reliable Swan stepped up
to take the kick but sent it high over the bar. This seemed to rock the
Village and maybe lose focus as from the resulting goal kick the ball was
flicked on leaving Stevens to race through and slot home. Bromley 1-0
up. This totally knocked the stuffing out of Borden and for the rest of the
game was second best to Bromley, who late on capitalised on a lack of
pressure to leave Mannell to turn and bury his shot into the near post to
make 2-0. The game finished shortly after and it was hard to find many
positives. Let's hope we can all learn from this and turn it around next
week.
