Match Report - 26 Oct 2013, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Bexley

It took extra time for Borden to win through to the quarter finals following a closely contested match against Bexley who ply their trade in Division 1 (west)

In the opening stages they had the best of exchanges which had the home side defending for long periods and after 20 mins their efforts were rewarded were rewarded when a delightful ball from Sam Brown found Dan Hudson in space away and from the resultant cross George Latham was at hand to fire into the roof of the net to give his team a well deserved lead. A few minutes later Borden gave away a cheap goal when from very little threat the home side lobbed the ball over the advancing Luke Titshall to level the scores. After the break both sides created some half chances but failed to add to their tally but with 3 mins remaining Bexley scored what looked to be the winner against the run of play. In a last ditch attempt Borden threw men forward and with seconds remaining Ross Frost broke away and slid the ball past the home keeper to send the game into extra time The first period of extra time saw both teams locked in a stalemate but it was Borden who looked to be finishing stronger and with 6 mins remaining Ross Frost found some space drew the keeper and planted the ball neatly into the bottom corner for a well deserved winner and sending his side into the quarter finals against local rivals Sheppey & Sheerness United
