Match Report - 07 Sep 2013, Borden Village FC Reserves beat Bromley Green Reserves

After a scrappy start to the game Borden Village Reserves started to
exert their dominance with some great passing play. Some great
interchanges by Kemsley & Nelson saw the ball fall to the feet of Sills to
put Borden 1-0 up. This seemed to spur Borden on and again some slick
passing ended up with Sills laying the ball to Dennis to hit a screamer
from 25 yards into the side of the net to make a great start to his debut
for the club. The game was now getting into the flow and with some wing
play from Nelson and then a great lay off from Kemsley, Prince was on
hand to coolly slot the ball home to put the Village into a 3-0 lead. After a
few scares from set-pieces Bromely finally got a chance after Pressnell
despite his best efforts was adjudged to have caught Wakham in the box
and the referee awarded a penalty. This was nicely dispatched by
Manell to get the home side on the board.
Half Time Bromely Green Reserves 1 - 3 Borden Village Reserves
The second half started as poorly as the first with both teams giving
away possession and again the home side looked to cause upset in the
Borden box from set-pieces. A few more wasted chances from the home
side looked to have put their nail in the coffin when a goal kick fell
straight to Sills who showed strength and pace to smash the ball home
through the keepers arms. Borden made a few changes which seemed
to unsettle them slightly and with the game closing out got caught with a
simple pass and finish from Wakham. He showed a good turn and
composure as he drilled the ball home into the bottom corner. This
spurred Borden on and was unlucky not to score when Prince had a
long range effort cannon off the bar late on. Borden saw the game out
and although not at their best they showed their class and there is more
to come from a new and hungry side. Up the Village!
