Match Report - 12 Oct 2013, Borden Village FC Reserves beat Woodstock Park

Borden after 2 straight defeats had a tough encounter against
Woodstock Park from the division above. With a depleted squad Borden
didn't have many options to change things so had to work hard as a unit
and wow did we do that first half. The village started brightly with some
really enjoyable football. We was keeping the ball, passing and moving.
Making the opposition chase us down but always finding an option. It
showed the quality that runs throughout the side. Sills looked very lively
and opened the scoring when some good wing play from Nelson created
the space for him to feed Sills who turned and slammed the ball home
with his trusty left foot. Nothing more than we deserved. 2 minutes later
an exquisite through ball from Kemsley gave Sills a 1 on 1 chance which
he did not pass up. He rifled the ball home at the near post to make it
2-0. The rest of the half panned out with Borden dominating possession
and territory. Best half of the season for Borden.
The second half started strongly again for Borden. Keeping the ball well
and playing football. However Woodstock seemed to step up their game
and put us under pressure. Slowly Borden got deeper and deeper
inviting the pressure on and eventually it prevailed. Neat after making a
truly world class save looked unbeatable. However in anticipating a
cross from a free kick got caught underneath the ball as the miscued
cross floated into the net missing everybody in the box. This again didn't
wake Borden up and eventually managed to hold off the pressure to get
a well deserved win and progress into the next round.
