Match Report - 25 Jul 2013, Borden Village FC 1st XI drew with Woodstock Sports

Borden invited Woodstock Sports for their first pre season friendly and acquitted themselves well in an entertaining 3 3 draw. The game gave Sports manager Ben Taylor the opportunity to look at a number of triallists whilst Borden preparing for the new campaign in a higher division gave debuts to new signings Kerry Glover Steve Collar and Andy Peters. Borden took the lead mid way through the first half when Tommy Price latched on to a through ball to flick home a neat header and with both teams trying to find openings play was pretty even. Following the break Sports prolific scorer James Macdonald was given a 20 min run out and soon made his presence felt by firing home an equaliser Ten mins later he scored a second with a superb volley and left the pitch soon after. Borden came back when Daniel Swann beat the off side trap to round the keeper and score, and ten minutes later scored his second from the spot when Price was brought down With minutes remaining Paul Teague levelled again for Sports rounding off an entertaining game.
