Match Report - 02 Mar 2013, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Hadlow Evolution
Borden just managed to retain their 100% home record and record their 10th consecutive league win in a finely balanced game on Saturday. Straight from the kick off both teams attacked strongly and it was Borden keeper Charlie Donoghue who denied the visitors an early goal with a point blank save. The home side broke the deadlock after 20 mins when George Latham broke down the left and his delivery into the box was met first time by Dan Hudson giving the keeper no chance. It stayed that way until 5mins before the break when Borden conceded a foul on the edge of the box and from the resultant free kick Hadlow curled a delightful free kick into the top corner. Following the break Borden conceded yet another free kick and from the same position Hadlow scored again. Borden pressed hard for an equaliser but resolute defending from a well organised Hadlow defence kept Borden at bay. With 5mins remaining the home side were awarded a penalty and up stepped Sam Brown to drive the ball into the bottom corner. With seconds remaining and with the referee looking at his watch Brown delivered a fine ball out wide on the right Hudson crossed Hadlow failed to clear and Latham fastened on to the loose ball and smash home the winner.
