Match Report - 23 Feb 2013, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Hawkenbury
Borden recorded their ninth consecutive league win in an 11 goal thriller at home on Saturday. After only 3 mins the home side went ahead through George Latham and 5 mins later the same player acted as a provider for Dan Hudson to increase the lead. After 15 mins Latham made it 3 and it was then that Borden took their foot off the pedal. A defensive error allowed the visitors in and minutes later they scored their second. Just before the break Latham completed his hat trick but on the stroke of half time Hawkenbury scored again and it was game on. The early stages of the second half saw Dan Hudson score Borden’s fifth but Hawkenbury refused to give in and mid way through the half reduced the arrears yet again. With ten mins remaining Latham seemed to have put the match finally out of reach when he swivelled on the edge of the box and powered a fine shot into the top corner. But with the minutes ticking away the visitors again broke away to steal a fifth but time ran out and it was the home side who bagged all three points.
