Match Report - 16 Feb 2013, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Guru Nanak

Borden returned from Gravesend on Saturday having bagged all three points in this top of the table clash. In an entertaining game there was little to chose between both sides as in the opening stages plat was end to end with no quarter given by either side. After 22mins the villagers took the lead through George Latham with a delightful strike from 25yards which found the top corner. Guru Nanack came back strongly in search of an equaliser and ten mins before the break were awarded a penalty after Nicky Fuller was adjudged to have made a late challenge. From the resultant kick Borden’s keeper Charlie Donoghue made a fine save and Borden held on to their lead. Following the break it was end to end for the whole of the second period but Borden’s defence superbly marshalled by Mark Green held firm to give the visitors an important win in the race for promotion
