Match Report - 02 Feb 2013, Borden Village FC 1st XI lost to AFC Mottingham
Borden failed to make the semi finals of the Kent Junior cup narrowly missing out to AFC Mottingham by the odd goal. It was a game of two halves as straight from the kick off the home side took the initiative and pressed for an early goal and this came after 15 mins when they won a corner and the ball was headed home at the near post. Ten minutes later a defensive mix up allowed them in for a second and Borden looked in trouble. The visitors found great difficulty in trying to play football on a bumpy pitch coupled with a strong wind and just before half time the home side added a third. Following the break and after some strong words from the management team Borden came out and set about reducing the arrears and after 15 mins Dan Hudson swivelled in the box and planted a firm shot into the top corner to give the visitors some hope. Borden then pinned the home side down and ten minutes later scored a second when George Latham cut in from the right and powered his shot into the roof of the net. The home side were now on the rack as Borden swarmed forward in search of the equaliser but the Mottingham outfit who had conceded only 8 goals all season clung on until the final whistle to win a place in the last 4.
