Match Report - 05 Jan 2013, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Ramsgate U24

Borden started the new year where they left off in December with their 9th consecutive win taking them through to the quarterfinals of the Kent Junior Cup. On a heavy pitch Borden in the opening stages understandably looked under par having not played for 4 weeks but as the game progressed they started to take the game to the visitors although it took almost 20 mins before prolific scorer George Latham was gifted a goal after he closed down the Ramsgate keeper Ten minutes later good work by Chris Feliniak put through Latham in for his second and Borden were beginning to dominate. Two minutes before the break Taz Baker got the third and the visitors began to lose their shape. The second half was basically a formality when Dan Hudson netted the fourth and substitute Tommy Price added a further 2. With ten minutes remaining Borden were awarded a penalty and a confident Matt Turner insisted on taking it only to see his effort go wide of the target much to the amusement of his team mates. The goal of the game came shortly afterwards when Ramsgate conceded a free kick on the edge of the box Mark Roberts stepped up and curled a quality free kick around the wall passed the helpless keeper and into the top corner With minutes remaining the hard working Ross Frost also got on the score sheet to complete a comprehensive win
