Match Report - 24 Nov 2012, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat New Romney

A complete change around in Borden’s fortunes this season have turned them from relegation candidates into serious contenders for promotion as on Saturday they recorded their 7th consecutive win. The opening stages saw the home side take the game to the visitors, but after 5 mins the villagers went on their first counter attack, and Dan Hudson’s cross was driven home by George Latham to give his side the lead. Ten minutes later both players reversed their roles and Borden added another when Hudson volleyed in Latham’s cross. New Romney were now unsettled and had to regroup, however they had more than their fair share of the ball and play, was for long periods pretty even, but ten minutes before the break the visitors struck again and this time it was Tommy Price, back in the side from injury, who added the third. The home side then seemed to lose the incentive and when Latham scored his 2nd and Borden’s 4th on the stroke of half time, the game was all but over. During the second period Borden dominated and Sam Brown who looked to be pulling all the strings in midfield scored a spectacular goal from 25yards. Matt Turner was next to get his name on the score sheet with a firm drive mid way through the half and Latham who seems to be scoring for fun rounded the keeper to complete his hat trick for Borden and record another comprehensive win to take them up into second place in the table
