Match Report - 17 Nov 2012, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Larkfield & NHW
Borden achieved their 6th successive victory against a well organised Larkfield. It was the visitors who settled down the quickest by taking the game to the home side during the opening quarter. As play went on Borden began to put their game together and after 20 mins Dan Hudson fed Nicky Fuller with a reverse pass that allowed him in to slide the ball past the diving keeper and put Borden in front. Within 5 minutes Fuller went from hero to villain with a clumsy tackle in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Larkfield duly converted but within minutes Mark Roberts restored Borden’s lead with a fine shot when the visitors failed to clear their lines. Minutes before the break George Latham scored Borden’s third with a powerful drive to put them firmly in the driving seat. Following the break Taz Baker sent Latham away who scored the fourth with a clinical finish. A lapse in concentration saw Larkfield score on the break but mid way through the half Latham completed his hat trick with a well taken goal after the keeper had made a fine save with his first effort. With ten minutes remaining Larkfield who never gave up scored again but it was the home side who finished the scoring with Latham rounding the keeper and rolling the ball into an empty net for yet another comprehensive win.
