Match Report - 27 Oct 2012, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Park Regis
Park Regis who had not lost a league match so far this season lost their record to a Borden side who are currently flying. Borden who were without the suspended Tommy Price had to reshuffle and Chris Feliniak was given his first start. Being a local derby the teams took a while to settle and for the first quarter play was pretty even but with both defences playing well chances were few and far between. On the half hour it was the home side who took the lead when Sam Brown put through George Latham who slotted the ball past the advancing keeper for his fourth in four games. Ten minutes later Latham was through again but as he shaped up to shoot he was tackled from behind and the referee pointed to the spot. Up stepped Sam Brown to despatch the ball into the bottom corner and put the Borden firmly in the driving seat. The second period saw the home side take the game to the visitors and Latham who was a constant threat to Regis all afternoon was unlucky not too add to his tally when his shot rebounded off the crossbar and to safety, mid way through the half Borden’s Taz Baker delivered a fine ball into the box and again Latham was denied when his header crashed against the underside of the bar bounced on the line and was scrambled away.
Park Regis never gave up and with ten minutes remaining were gifted a goal with a rare defensive error. The goal gave the visitors some hope and they pressed hard for an equaliser but the Borden defence remained firm for their third successive win.
