Match Report - 20 Oct 2012, Borden Village FC 1st XI beat Hadlow Evolution

Back to back wins 8 goals without reply and 6 points in the bag suggests Borden are now coming into form as they climb another 3 places up to 5th. Straight from the kick off Borden put the home side on the back foot and Tommy Price gave a taste of what was to come as his early effort shaved the crossbar with the keeper well beaten. After 15 mins Borden took the lead when Price found George Latham who in turn delivered a fine cross into the 6yard box where Price finished with a diving header. On the half hour the visitors scored again this time Price flicked on a header to Latham whose pace took him away and clinically placed his shot wide of the advancing keeper. The home side regrouped and had more than their share of possession but were unable to penetrate a well organised defence, on the odd occasion they threatened keeper Charlie Donoghue was at hand finger tipping one goal bound shot to safety. The second period saw the villagers looking to seal the game and mid way through the half Dan Hudson’s in swinging corner was only partially cleared and Liam Baxindale was at hand to open his account. Hadlow battled away but any serious threats were ably dealt with by the defensive pairing of Mark Green and Mark Roberts With 10 mins left Borden put the game beyond doubt when Hadlows keeper failed to hold a powerful shot from Latham and Baxindale pounced to bury the ball into the bottom corner. Next week Borden are looking forward to entertaining high flying Park Regis one of only two remaining teams unbeaten in the league which has all the makings of an entertaining local derby
