Match Report - 26 Nov 2011, Borden Village FC 1st XI drew with Hawkenbury
For the second week running Borden have shared the spoils and now with what seems to be a settled squad they are looking to build on it. In the opening half hour the visitors were put under pressure by the home side and one or two chances that could have put Borden in the driving seat were wasted. Elijah Tucker was causing the visitors all sorts of problems with his pace, and on the half hour he burst into the box and was brought down for a stonewall penalty. He picked himself up placed the ball on the spot and promptly dispatched it into the bottom corner giving his team a deserved lead. However Borden were only in front 6 minutes as Hawkenbury capitalised on a defensive error to level the score against the run of play Following the break play was pretty even with Nicky Fuller and Dan Mills working hard in mid field and keeper Michael Neat having to be on top of his game to deal with some goal bound efforts from the opposition on the hour Borden once again took the lead when Joe Jones cleverly turned his marker in the box and drove the ball firmly past the keeper for his second goal in two games, however, Borden will have to learn how to hold on to a lead as with ten minutes remaining a lapse in concentration gave the visitors an opportunity to level once again and leave Borden reflecting on two points dropped rather than one gained.
